The series of miniature handbound books, “For my child,” was derived from conversations with children. We newly made an edition of Masanao Hirayama’s “Dance (Dancing Merry).” This is an edition 1/1 book, as the selection and sequencing of the content are all different. “Dancing Crib Mobile” (2024) is a work made to show Hirayama’s newborn daughter, and was made and showcased at the gallery Syndicate (Takamatsu, Kagawa) in the same year.
子供とのやり取りから生まれた小さな手作りの本『For my child』シリーズ。新たに平山昌尚さんの『Dance（ダンスのメリー）』を制作しました。中ページのセレクトや順序を全て異なるものにすることで、エディション1/1の本となっています。《ダンスのメリー》（2024）は、平山さんの娘さんが生まれたのをきっかけに、娘さんに見せるために制作、同年、Syndicate（高松）にて発表された作品です。

For my child:
A book started from the conversation between Aijima, representing DOOKS, and his own child. It was inspired by his child looking at a small catalogue, flipping pages with clumsy hands, focused. Thinking that “let’s make a book of a child-hand size, light, and of interests changing over time,” Aijima collected image data (from the public domain and other materials whose copyrights have expired) on the internet, editing and binding “Vehicles,” “Fruits,” and so on, and constantly making the book lineup.
DOOKSの相島自身の子供とのやり取りから始まった小さな手作りの本。きっかけは、一歳のわが子が小さなカタログを、ぎこちない手で一生懸命めくり、見入る姿を見たこと。「子供の手のひらサイズで、軽くて、その時々に移り変わる興味に合わせて本を作ろう」という思いで、インターネット上で画像データ（パブリック・ドメインなど諸権利が消滅したもの）を集め、「車」や「果物」など、編集・制作し、ラインナップを増やしていった。

We replicated the one-on-one conversation into a one-and-only book (edition 1/1). This book has a simple structure made from cutting and pasting plain paper; however, since the book can be damaged easily, it gives a joyous moment to grow together by reinforcing and fixing it with tape.
この1対1の対話を、世界に一つしかない本（エディション1/1）として再現した。コピー用紙を切り貼りした簡易的な作りだが、すぐに傷むからこそ、テープで補強や修理をしながら、ともに成長する本として楽しむことができる。

It has been showcased since the 2022 exhibition, and is currently developing a series using artists’ works, a built-to-order format in which the theme is designed by the participants, as well as holding workshops for participants to make the books on their own.
2022年の展示より公開し、現在は、作家の作品を用いたシリーズのほか、参加者がテーマを決めるオーダーメイド形式や、参加者が自分で作るワークショップなども展開している。


Masanao Hirayama　平山 昌尚
A multidisciplinary artist born in Kobe in 1976. His practice encompasses a wide range of creative expressions, from graffiti-inspired drawings and paintings to fashion design and performance art.
落書きのようなドローイング、絵画の他、アパレル、パフォーマンス等で活躍するアーティスト。 1976年神戸生まれ 絵画、ドローイング、パフォーマンスなど。
