As I kept photographing, trying to capture something precious within my hands, I noticed there is no real name for us. You do really exist,
somewhere in the darkness, emitting your faint, dim light. I want you to know this: no one else gives things value;
it is for you to decide.
I’ve captured these little bijous for myself; and every now and then, I open my hands and give them a loving touch.

大切なものを手に入れたくて写真を撮り続けていたら、
私達には本当の名前なんてない事に気が付いた。
あなたは、暗闇の中で鈍い光を放ちながら確かにそこに存在している。
その価値を決めるのは他の誰でもない、自分自身なのだと伝えたい。
私は宝石を拾い集めて手の中にしまっては、時々愛おしく触っている。

The photos taken in 3 years after the artist’s return from Tokyo to her hometown Fukui. To face the photos, the artist selects the sizes and kinds of paper and setup of printing so that they become closely similar to the original prints she has kept. Each of carefully selected pieces includes various perspectives of shooting and experiences in the past and new challenges.
東京から福井へと帰郷し、3年間に撮られた写真を編集。作家が写真と向き合うため、手にし続けていたオリジナルプリントに近付けるよう、サイズ、用紙、印刷を選択しています。丁寧に選択されたそれぞれの断片は、それまでに撮影、経験してきた多くの視点と、新たな挑戦を内包しています。"Imitation Bijou" は模造宝石の意味。

Atsuko Susuki　鈴木 敦子
1981年福井県生まれ。2008年大阪ビジュアルアーツ専門学校写真学科卒業。視覚を通して体験してきた記憶の残像や痕跡を基に、自ら思い描くイメージを実像として写真に写し出し制作を続けている。主な展覧会グループ展に、2008年,エプソンカラーイメージングコンテスト受賞作品展／Spiral,青山、2010年「夜明けまえ」／明るい部屋,東京、2013年「red letter」／森岡書店,東京、2015年,東川町アーティストインレジデンス作品展／赤煉瓦倉庫,北海道東川など。
